EXCOMs effort to foster and encourage innovation

by Eileen Chieng

SMBs are the lifeblood of the Australian economy with about 1.93 million small businesses, representing 96 per cent of all businesses in the country.[1]

SMBs need to be smart about their usage of technology and learn how to maximise their IT investments to their advantage. It is for this reason Excom is proud to partner with Dell on the Dell Small Business Excellence Award.

According to Graeme Newey, Director of Excom Education, “Small to medium businesses need to be just as technology savvy as larger businesses as it can have an even greater impact on their bottom line.  Having well-trained IT employees that are innovative and knowledgeable on existing and emerging technologies in order to succeed in today’s economic climate is critical to enable SMBs to channel and streamline their technology resources more effectively to areas of their business where it is most needed.’’

In its effort to foster and encourage innovation among SMBs, Excom Education is offering over A$30,000 of training vouchers to the ten Dell SME Award finalists.

Training opportunities include Excom’s industry-leading Green IT training courses, recently launched in response for a growing demand for green education in the IT space.

"To our knowledge, we are offering the first commercial, instructor-led programs in the world around green IT," said Mr Jim Watson CEO of Excom Education.

Senator Kate Lundy reiterated the importance of Green IT education recently at Excom’s Green IT Breakfast Briefing in Canberra, “Green ICT needs to become a core Skill in our new generation to continue to lighten our carbon footprint through continual education and implementation ... I commend EXCOM in their investment in ICT Green education ... you are helping take Australia to where we need to go.”
